Okeanos Foundation Biodiversity Cruise

This trip took us to West Papua, known locally as Irian Jaya. And there to the „Raja Ampat“ archipelago which roughly means „united kingdom“ and is located in the Banda Sea.

The area has over 1,500 islands. The four main islands are Misool, Salawati, Batanta and Waigeo.

Misool is one of the most biodiverse regions in the world with fish, corals, sponges, soft corals, shrimps, crabs and countless nudibranchs and other invertebrates and huge shoals of sardines.

Edi Frommenwiler, one of the most expierenced underwater videographers i know helped us with his crew of the Pindito to find the right spots.
